ACV for Acid Reflux?

by Benjamin Poole

Lots of people may find relief from acid reflux and GERD symptoms through a natural remedy that has the likes of apple cider vinegar, honey, hops, and more. Helping support digestion, soothing your throat, and relaxing tension are some of the potential benefits of these few ingredients.

Organic Apple cider vinegar: Some research suggests that apple cider vinegar may help regulate stomach acid levels and improve digestion. The acidic nature of vinegar can aid in the breakdown of food and support acid reflux. If you take ACV by itself, don't use it too much, and don't take it straight! Dilute it (or swish some water) so you can keep your teeth healthy. ;)

Organic Honey: Honey is known for its potential cleansing properties. It may help soothe the lining of the esophagus caused by acid reflux. When taken in little amounts, honey is great for everyone and more so, your Acid Reflux.

Organic Hops: Hops have traditionally been used to promote relaxation and relieve tension. Some proponents believe that the sedative and calming effects of hops might help reduce stress and alleviate symptoms associated with acid reflux and GERD. However, scientific evidence supporting this claim is limited.

ALSO! Eating a healthy diet can help reduce the occurrence of acid reflux by promoting better digestive health. Foods high in fat and spice, as well as acidic and citrus-based foods, can trigger acid reflux and increase stomach acid production. On the other hand, a diet rich in fiber (Insert Psyllium Husk), lean proteins, and whole grains can aid in smooth digestion and lessen the production of stomach acid. Consuming smaller, more frequent meals rather than large portions can also help reduce pressure and hopefully minimizing the likelihood of acid reflux. By prioritizing nutrient-dense, low-fat, and non-acidic foods, individuals can create an environment in the stomach that is less prone to triggering acid reflux and promote overall digestive well-being.
